Bekah is one of many developers working on a distributed product team. Bekah's consistently stepped up in sprint planning meetings to offer suggestions for how to improve development quality and process. Her suggestions are thoughtful, well-timed and demonstrate a solid understanding of agile development processes. But probably most important, she continues to demonstrate that she gives a shit about the outcome of this project.
Bekah created a lunchtime meeting series for women at Atomic to gather and discuss HBR’s Women at Work podcast. She set up the meetings, chose the podcast episodes we would discuss, and facilitated the discussions. These meetings provided a safe space for women at Atomic to discuss tricky subjects, like parental leave, giving and accepting feedback, and taking credit for our work. Bekah’s efforts embodied many of Atomic’s values, but most notably, our desire to Think Long Term, by continuing to foster and improve our culture to be a place where women (and all people) can thrive.
